60 YEARS OF BANKING IN GHANA: LANDMARKS OF THE PAST AND LESSONS FOR THE FUTURE

ABSTRACT
This contribution gives a comprehensive overview and account of the
evolution of the legal framework on the banking sector in Ghana in the
last 60 years, paying close attention to some major landmarks, which
have defined the banking and financial sector and highlighting lessons for
the future. This paper argues that regulation of the banking sector must
engender confidence in the sector and among industry players.
